New version of Intel's Atom processor going into mobile devices

The "Medfield" version of the Atom processor line from Intel was tested by the Technology Review at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which found the chip is more energy-efficient and better integrated than previous versions of the low-power processor. Intel expects that smartphones and tablet computers with the Android mobile operating system and "Medfield" processors will be introduced next year.
