Officials warn Hawaii on implementation of Race to the Top plans

The Education Department notified Hawaii officials in a letter Wednesday that $75 million in Race to the Top funds will be in jeopardy if the state fails to make additional progress toward meeting previously set goals. While implementation has been slow in some states, Hawaii has struggled on several fronts, including an effort to implement a new teacher-evaluation system and has requested many changes to its initial proposal.
