Sports programming should be sold separately, cable chief says

With a blackout of the MSG sports network looming for Time Warner Cable customers because of a standoff over carriage fees, the cable operator's chief executive is calling for sports to be made available as a separate tier from entertainment channels. "What was a minor problem is turning into an astronomical problem," said Glenn Britt, in reference to the high price of sports programming. "The ultimate solution is to get that programming on some sort of smaller packaging scheme."
