Chang Chi Foodstuff owner gets 16-year sentence in tainted cooking oil scandal

Kao Chen-li, chairman of Chang Chi Foodstuff in Taiwan, was sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted of mixing potentially harmful chemicals, such as copper chlorophyllin, into the company's popular brand of cooking oils. Kao also ordered workers to mix less expensive cottonseed oil into the bottles, which were passed off as 100% pure olive or grapeseed.
