EU grants PGI status to Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese

Wensleydale Creamery's Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese has been awarded Protected Geographical Indication status by the European Union. PGI status prohibits any production of the Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, which is a favorite of famous television duo Wallace and Gromit, outside the Wensleydale region in England. "Our heritage and provenance makes Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese taste truly unique and we're delighted this is now officially recognized," said David Hartley, managing director of Wensleydale Creamery.
