FDA proposal would require terrorism strategies

The FDA recently proposed a rule that would require food facilities to develop strategies for handling acts of terrorism related to the food supply. Facilities would need a written defense plan that identifies their vulnerabilities in the food-production process and to implement strategies to address those vulnerabilities as well as develop monitoring systems and corrective actions. "The goal is to protect the food supply from those who may attempt to cause large-scale public health harm,” said the FDA's Michael Taylor.
