Maryland plan would give "floating" days off for religious celebrations

Baltimore County Muslims want schools to either take two more days off for their most sacred holidays, or close for none of them. A state education committee studying the issue has proposed that all Maryland schools give students up to two "floating holidays" for religious observance and enable pupils to earn perfect attendance awards if they miss no other days of school.
