Mississippi mediation program draws ire

A Mississippi mediation program for homeowners whose dwellings were damaged or destroyed in Hurricane Katrina has garnered criticism from plaintiffs' lawyer Richard Scruggs, who is seeking state court jurisdiction for a class action lawsuit against insurance companies. Mississippi Insurance Commissioner George Dale said the program was "non-binding" and "just another avenue to give insureds help in settling their claims."
