Shortage of de-icing fluid worsens delays in Seattle:

Up to 4,000 travelers were stranded in the Seattle-Tacoma Airport on Sunday night after a winter storm hammered the area and two major carriers ran short of de-icing fluid. Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, which together operate half the daily flights from Sea-Tac, were hampered by low supplies of the chemical after road and rail connections were cut off by the storm. An Alaska spokesman cautioned that fully booked planes meant some passengers would be unable to find a new flight in time for Christmas.
