Africa, Middle East to compete for outsourcing in 2010

The Philippines and India are still magnets for outsourced IT work, but China, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa are expected to become competitive markets for offshore work in 2010, experts note. Indian and U.S. firms are looking at Latin American acquisitions that could jump-start the market there, while Africa could get a boost from undersea fiber-optic connections despite other infrastructure problems. "South Africa and Egypt are both making concerted efforts to brand their industry," said Ben Trowbridge, CEO of Alsbridge, an outsourcing firm.
