ECB aims to revive securitization by making ABS more transparent

The European Central Bank requested comments on a proposal that would have banks provide more detailed information on loans within asset-backed securities that the central bank accepts as collateral. "To ensure an adequate risk assessment of the ABSs that the Eurosystem accepts as collateral, the Eurosystem is considering the ongoing availability of loan-by-loan information on the underlying assets backing the ABSs as a factor to be taken into account in the eligibility criteria," the central bank said in its consultation document.
