Study: Niacin might counter lost HDL benefits in diabetics

Researchers found that the vessel-protecting functions of high-density lipoprotein, also known as "good" cholesterol, were enhanced in patients with Type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome after they received extended-release niacin.
