Neighborhood groups near the construction site at Atlantic Yards in New York City withdrew their motion to stop construction of the 22-acre site in the Prospect Heights area of Brooklyn, which includes a new sports arena and 16 high-rise towers. Groups say that the Empire State Development Corp. has ignored the environmental effect on the area. In early November, a judge ruled that the ESDC had to provide updated findings to its impact study. Now that the company has done so, construction can continue.
