Shale-gas boom spurs gas-to-liquids projects

Sasol of South Africa will acquire a half-stake in a Canadian shale-gas field with an eye toward developing gas-to-liquids refining projects at the site. Sasol's proprietary technology cooks natural gas to produce diesel, propane and naphtha -- and with crude prices rising, the process has become more financially attractive.
