Latest Race to the Top grant winners are announced

Seven states each will get a piece of $200 million in Race to the Top funds after losing in the federal grant competition last year. Officials announced Thursday that Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana and Kentucky were awarded grants. Nine states were eligible to compete in Race to the Top's latest round, but South Carolina chose not to apply and California's application was deemed incomplete.
