France chided for acting to separate banking operations

Jean-Paul Chifflet, chief of the French Banking Federation, said France is making a mistake acting now to separate financial institutions' investment and retail banking operations. He noted that economic conditions are not right and pointed to the US as one place where such legislation is on hold because of the economy.
