House-Senate conference on immigration remains possible, says lawmaker

A conference between the House of Representatives and the Senate on immigration reform could still happen next year, said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. Reid made this prediction after seeing House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, confront conservative groups that criticized the budget deal. However, Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said the lawmaker remains focused on a piecemeal approach, while Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Boehner may negotiate with the Senate only after individual immigration bills are passed at the House.
