Study: BMI can be forecast from eating-disorder symptoms at 13

Binge eating in 13-year-olds was linked to increased body mass at age 15, while restricted food intake was tied to reduced body mass, according to a study in the Journal of Adolescent Health. Eating disorders, particularly overeating, negatively affected the personal and family lives of both boys and girls, but weight/body-shape concern was linked to increased family burden in girls alone.
