USPSTF issues recommendation on BRCA screening and testing

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has recommended that women with a positive family history of breast or ovarian cancer undergo testing for BRCA gene mutations. The recommendation applies only to women with a family history of those types of cancer and is not supported in men and women without a family history related to the gene mutation, the group says. The recommendation appears in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
