"Port Tracker" predicts 2010 container volume gains

After what is expected to be a sluggish January, container volumes at ports are expected to begin a spate of year-over-year gains, according to the latest monthly "Port Tracker" report by the National Retail Federation and IHS Global Insight. January volume is projected to slip 4%, with increases beginning in February through April. Total 2009 volume is expected to show a 17% decline from the previous year.
