Report urges Georgia to pass new water standards

A special task force has urged Georgia lawmakers to pass wide-ranging water-conservation reforms, making state permits contingent on water-standards compliance and pushing utility companies to reduce leaks. The report, ordered in response to a court ruling that could dramatically reduce Atlanta's water supply, now shifts the focus to the state's legislators, who have long been reluctant to tangle with the state's water woes.
