China's mission spurs U.S. group to urge return to moon

A group of scientists is lobbying lawmakers to back a return of U.S. astronauts to the moon, following China's success in putting a lander on the lunar surface. "We were waiting to see if Chang'e 3 landed successfully and it did! Now we want to champion the moon from the U.S. side," said Clive Neal, a lunar scientist at the University of Notre Dame. Neal is also a member of the NASA-chartered Lunar Exploration Analysis Group, which sent letters to members of Congress on the matter.
