Federal workers to get a 1% raise on Jan. 1

Federal civilian workers are set to receive their first pay raise since the beginning of 2011, as President Barack Obama on Monday followed through on a promise to order a 1% cost-of-living pay raise for federal workers. At least one group noted that the raise isn't large enough to keep pace with inflation, which was 1.8% this year. The raises take effect Jan. 1.
