AHIP study: Agents drive LTCI policy selection

According to research from AHIP, customers most often cite agent recommendation and insurer reputation as the reason they chose a given long-term-care policy. People often buy to address multiple goals, and 1 in 3 people cite asset and estate protection as their primary motivation. The average age of people purchasing the policies dropped to 59 in 2010, and 74% of married clients buy one policy for each spouse, according to the AHIP data.
