EPA to decide on advanced-biofuels quota for next year

The Environmental Protection Agency is expected soon to announce the quota for advanced biofuels for 2013. In recent years, the EPA has waived cellulosic-fuel quotas because of a lack of production. Jeremy I. Martin of the Union of Concerned Scientists said the agency should keep the quotas but waive the requirements again next year, since "going in the right direction a little more slowly is better than going in the wrong direction."
