Reports quantify Marcellus Shale's productivity

The Marcellus Shale formation has become the most productive natural gas field in the U.S. despite a slowdown in drilling this year, multiple energy reports say. Marcellus wells in Pennsylvania and West Virginia had daily output of 7 billion cubic feet of gas this year, or about 25% of the country's shale gas production. The play could hold "almost half of the current proven natural gas reserves in the U.S.," a Standard & Poor's study says.
