Tribune Co. severs most ties with AP

The Associated Press is being dropped by all Tribune Co. newspapers, with the exception of the Los Angeles Times. One estimate says the move will save the Chicago Tribune alone $5 million a year as it replaces AP with Reuters America, a service provided by Thomson Reuters. The other papers affected are the Baltimore Sun; Orlando Sentinel; the South Florida Sun-Sentinel; Connecticut's Hartford Courant; Allentown, Pa.'s, Morning Call; and Newport News, Va.'s, Daily Press.
