Wind capacity in Maine hits 468 MW as more projects are expected

Maine's wind industry now has a production capacity of 468 megawatts, and more projects that could increase the capacity to half of the state's 2,000-megawatt goal for 2015 are expected, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection. Among the developers is Massachusetts firm First Wind, which has five wind farms in Maine and pending projects including a 60-to-65-turbine wind farm to be constructed in Piscataquis County.
