Wood pellets gain traction in Md. as renewable heating fuel

Maryland is promoting the use of wood pellets to reduce heating costs in the state. The state offers rebates to residents who buy "cleaner-burning" wood stoves and "modern" pellet stoves to heat their homes. "It's the workhorse of renewable energy in Europe and should be in the United States," said Maine Energy Systems Director William Strauss, who was in the state recently to tout the fuel.
