CTBUH predicts trends for skyscraper construction in 2014

The Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat forecasts that skyscraper construction will increase in 2014. By the end of 2013, the group estimates that 75 structures taller than 656 feet will be finished, and next year about 100 more will be completed. CTBUH editor Daniel Safarik predicts that skyscraper construction in 2014 will include emphasis on factors such as aesthetics, use of prefab and sustainability. As an example, "[t]he advancement in high-strength concrete technology, combined with land scarcity and plenty of billionaires [willing] to spend a great deal of money for single-or double floor unity high in the sky has made this a new reality," Safarik said.
