Opinion: Satellite system needed to ease delays, congestion

The measures announced by DOT Secretary Mary Peters to ease flight delays at New York's JFK Airport are a good start, the Washington Post editorial board writes. The board applauds efforts to accelerate ground satellite systems at JFK, Newark and LaGuardia, as well as new approach routes that will allow jets to land and take off more efficiently. The board also suggests that a congestion pricing plan could help pay for a nationwide satellite system to alleviate gridlock.
