Uptick in anti-gay hate crimes perceived in 2008

Anecdotal evidence for 2008 suggests a greater number of anti-gay hate crimes, or least a higher level of awareness of them, although exact figures are not yet available. In 2007, there were a reported 1,265 anti-gay hate crimes, compared with 1,017 in 2005 and 1,239 in 2003, according to FBI statistics.
