Professor creates iPad app to help son, others communicate

A Wake Forest University computer-science professor and his students have developed an application for the iPad or iPhone that will help his son who has developmental disabilities -- as well as others -- to communicate. The VerbalVictor app uses pictures to accompany recorded phrases that users can select. For example, if a child wants to go outside, he or she could select a picture of the backyard, which would be followed by a recording.
