Walking to a bus stop instead of driving to work could help people burn an extra 100 calories daily, researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign reported in Preventive Medicine. The study looked at the health effects of driving even 1 mile less per day and found that travel-based interventions could be as effective as dietary changes in promoting obesity reduction.
