University of California drops new logo after uproar

A new University of California logo has been suspended after online protests, including a petition that garnered more than 50,000 signatures. It's the latest in a series of attempts by universities to update their branding, only to be met with criticism. "A lot of schools are taking a much more corporate approach. ... A CMO didn't even exist on most campuses 10 years ago," said Elizabeth Scarborough of ad agency SimpsonScarborough.
