CDC report: Heart disease tops list of causes of death in U.S.

In 2010, heart disease was the leading cause of death in the general adult population, followed by cancer and respiratory conditions, CDC researchers wrote in the National Vital Statistics Reports. Among infants, birth defects, low birth weight and sudden infant death syndrome were the top three causes of death.
