Congresswoman calls for armed checkpoints at airports

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., has suggested in a letter to John Pistole, head of the Transportation Security Administration, that armed police should monitor areas within 300 feet of security checkpoints at airports. The lawmaker's recommendation is backed by some police unions, but some experts have said that the officers are more effective when they are less stationary.
