FAA report: Dramatic drop in number of airline delays and cancellations since 2000

The inspector general for the Federal Aviation Administration said flight delays have dropped dramatically since 2000, but recommended analyzing the safety data collected by the agency to help further reduce delays. "There will likely be diminishing opportunities for further reducing chronic delays until significant next-gen capacity enhancements begin to come online," said Brodi Fontenot, assistant secretary for administration at the FAA.
