Fla. judge allows changes to contract rules for faculty

Faculty at Florida's state college system will have to meet tougher requirements to qualify for tenure-like contracts. An administrative law judge this week ruled that the Florida Board of Education had the authority to implement the new contract rules, which require that measurements of student success and faculty performance reviews be considered when awarding or continuing the contracts. The United Faculty of Florida challenged the new criteria in June, claiming the board had overstepped its authority.
