NBC takes control of MSNBC TV; keeps Web pact with Microsoft

NBC is taking over the cable news channel MSNBC from partner Microsoft, but will continue to share ownership of MSNBC.com, which is the most popular news site on the Internet. The long-anticipated breakup on the TV side comes as MSNBC TV continues to lag behind rivals Fox News and CNN.
