DOT rejects Virgin's bid to fly in U.S.

The DOT said Virgin America's ownership structure did not meet the U.S. citizenship test and rejected its application to fly in the U.S. The airline said it would respond to the decision by Jan. 10 and demonstrate that it meets the U.S. requirements. Several U.S. airlines have opposed Virgin's application and say the U.K.'s Virgin Group controls the airline.
