FDA clears six generic copies of Merck's Zocor

The FDA approved six generic versions of Merck's Zocor anticholesterol drug, bringing the number of competitors with agency approval to eight. The new generics approved are made by: India's Aurobindo Pharma, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd., and Zydus Pharmaceuticals; Canada's Cobalt Pharmaceuticals; a subsidiary of Novartis AG of Switzerland; and Perrigo Co. of the U.S.
