Editorial: Candidates need to address big tax issues

Presidential candidates are failing to "come to grips" with the big issues in their tax proposals, according to a USA TODAY editorial. "Alas, the offerings are an unappealing array of Republican supersweet tax cuts -- stimulating now but which you pay for later -- and Democratic microplans, which might be marginally useful but are about as filling as finger food," the newspaper said. USA Today says the problem is not that taxes are too high, but that the tax code is too complex.
