Targeted messages can build Twitter followings faster

Direct marketer Bruce Judson took a statistical approach to his first experiments with Twitter, and he found that following the conventional wisdom yielded "uninspiring" results. Shifting gears, he began tweeting one item a day from his list of "100 services that save money and help the planet" -- and watched his number of followers jump by 10% a day, with about a 4% click-through rate.
