Will social media make middle managers obsolete?

Social media tools are helping executives slice through their companies' bureaucracy and speak directly with their workers, writes Bill George, a management professor at Harvard. That's good news for companies and their CEOs, who can communicate more directly and lead more responsively, but bad news for middle managers. "Everyone is equal on the social network. No hierarchies need get involved," George writes.
