Adherence effort brings together stakeholders

The National Consumers League's "Script Your Future" campaign aims to boost patients' adherence to cardiovascular, diabetes and respiratory treatment regimens by educating patients, family caregivers, doctors, nurses and pharmacists on best practices, says NCL vice president of health policy Rebecca Burkholder. Unlike some other campaigns, this one enlists more than 100 organizations, including pharmacies, insurers, data service vendors, drugmakers, trade and professional associations, patient advocates, and government agencies. "I am ... encouraged by the commitment to create an inventory of best practices and to work with the professional community to translate these into clinical guidelines," said Gus Littlefield, national president of cardiovascular patient advocacy group and campaign participant Mended Hearts.
