Air New Zealand is offering unsold premium seats to highest bidder

In an attempt to "OneUp" the competition, Air New Zealand is auctioning off its unsold premium seats. The OneUp program gives passengers the chance to bid for cabin-class upgrades on long-haul flights from New Zealand to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Vancouver, B.C. "We've now developed this offer process which enables us to earn additional revenue and give customers an opportunity for a last-minute upgrade," the airline said.
