Calif. teacher uses music and art to engage students in math

A middle-school teacher in California suggests engaging students in math lessons by creating activities that relate to the real world. Robert MacCarthy's students have created math music videos to songs and designed shirts with math problems on them. MacCarthy said he has added visual instruction to his math lessons to help students who are learning English.
