Set SMART goals for New Year's diets, RDs say

A New Year's resolution to lose weight can be ambiguous and difficult to follow, so dietitian Anna Armstrong advises people to adopt goals that are "SMART": specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. Dietitians say people should focus on defined goals, healthy fats, sugar-free drinks, cutting calories, eating family meals and accountability by using a food journal or nutrition calculator.
