Social media can enhance doctor-patient relationship

Proper use of social media can not only attract patients but also boost retention rates and keep them healthy, studies have found. Post-visit communication from doctors can improve patient satisfaction and retention, and encourage prescription adherence, according to a study published in Chest Journal. Doctors can distribute short surveys in the waiting room to find out what patients want from social media and can use social media to disseminate factual information about their practices, medical market analyst Katie Matlack writes.
